Privacy Policy

The short version
- I collect your name and email address — that’s it — when you join a mailing list or buy something.
- I never sell, rent or trade your information. Not ever, not to anyone.
- I never share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- I use it to send you the emails you asked for and to get your order to you.
- You can unsubscribe or ask me to delete your information at any time.
Who this is about
This policy covers Frenika Devon and the websites I run — frenikadevon.com and its subdomains, including the links page at hello.frenikadevon.com and the puzzle pages. Throughout this page, “I” and “my” mean Frenika Devon; “you” means you, the person reading it.
Frenika Devon is a small, one-person creative brand. There is no marketing department behind the curtain — your information comes to me and stays with me.
What I collect
When you join a mailing list
Your first name and email address, and which lists you chose to join. That is the whole list. I don’t ask for your address, your phone number, your birthday or anything else.
When you buy something
My products are sold through Etsy. Etsy handles the checkout and the payment, and passes me the details needed to fill your order — typically your name, your email address and, for anything physical, a shipping address. I never see or store your full card number or payment details; those stay with Etsy and its payment processors and never touch my systems.
Basic website information
Like every website, mine sits on a web host that keeps standard server logs (things like the page requested and the time it was requested) for security and troubleshooting.
On my product landing pages, when you arrive from a link I posted somewhere — a social post, an email — I count the visit so I know which posts people actually found useful. That count records the page, the campaign the link came from, and a scrambled, one-way code standing in for “a visitor,” so two visits can be told apart without me knowing who either of them was. It contains no name, no email and nothing that can be turned back into an identity, and it only happens on links tagged for a campaign.
What I never do
The only people who ever touch your information are the services I need in order to deliver what you asked for, listed below, and they may only use it to do that job for me.
How I use what I collect
- To send you the newsletter or club emails you signed up for.
- To deliver the free puzzle or mini mystery you asked for.
- To fill your order and answer questions about it.
- To reply when you email me.
- To understand, in the aggregate, which pages and posts are working.
If I ever want to use your information for something other than the reason you gave it to me, I’ll ask you first.
The services that help me run this
A few companies process information on my behalf. They act as my service providers, not as independent owners of your data, and each has its own privacy policy:
- MailerLite — stores my mailing lists and sends the emails. (their privacy policy)
- Etsy — runs the shop, the checkout and the payments. (their privacy policy)
- My web host — serves these pages and keeps the standard server logs described above.
I may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it — a court order, for example. That has never happened, and I would tell you if it did unless I were legally forbidden from doing so.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies. There are no ad networks and no social pixels following you around.
The only cookie the site itself sets is a login session cookie on my own private admin page, which only I ever see.
Pages hosted by other companies — an Etsy listing, for instance — set their own cookies under their own policies once you land there.
Links to other websites
My pages link out to Etsy, to social media and, on my Favorite Things page, to products I genuinely like. Some of those are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Those links are marked as such on the page.
Once you follow a link off my site, you are on someone else’s website, under their privacy policy. I have no control over what they collect, so it is worth a look if you are curious.
Your choices and your rights
You are in charge of your information. At any time you can:
- Unsubscribe — every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. No hard feelings and no “are you sure?” maze.
- Ask what I have — email me and I’ll tell you.
- Correct it — if I have spelled your name wrong, tell me and I’ll fix it.
- Have it deleted — email me and I’ll remove you from my lists and delete what I hold, apart from anything I am legally required to keep (order and tax records, for example).
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK, or the CCPA in California, give you these rights formally. I would rather simply honour them for everyone. Californians in particular are entitled to be told this plainly: I do not sell or share personal information, and I never have.
To exercise any of this, email info@frenikadevon.com. I’ll respond as quickly as I reasonably can, and within 30 days at the outside.
How long I keep it
I keep your name and email for as long as you want my emails. Unsubscribe and you come off the active list; ask me to delete you and you are gone entirely. Order records are kept as long as tax and business record-keeping rules require, and the anonymous visit counts described above are kept as aggregate statistics with nothing personal in them.
Keeping it safe
This site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, signup forms are submitted securely, and the tools I use to manage my lists are password-protected and limited to me. No system anywhere is perfectly secure, but I hold as little information as possible — which is the best protection there is.
Children
My site and shop are meant for adults, and my games are sold to the grown-ups running the party. I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given me their information, email me and I’ll delete it right away.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle your information, I’ll update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. If it is a significant change, I’ll say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing this page and hoping nobody notices.
